Adam Boland

Adam graduated from UCD in 2017 with a BA in Philosophy. During his time in UCD, he was the science editor of the College Tribune, where he guided the paper to place a greater emphasis on environmental issues. He went on to complete an MSc in Climate Change: Policy, Media and Society from DCU in 2020, which led to a position as a research assistant with DCU’s Sustainability Office. During his 2 years with DCU, Adam worked with the Grain-4-Lab project to investigate the behavioural and systemic barriers to laboratory sustainability, with a particular focus on plastic laboratory consumables. His experience working on this circular economy research project led Adam to become a research officer at the Rediscovery Centre, which is the National Centre for the Circular Economy. In his first year with the Centre, Adam led an EPA funded project investigating the extent to which insurance requirements pose a barrier to community repair activities, as well as contributing to a wide range of other research projects, policy consultations, events, and communications. His current work explores the barriers and enablers to Ireland’s transition to a circular economy.
