Dr Ana Cubillo Alvarez

Ana received her undergraduate degree in Pharmacy from the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain) in 2019. During this time, Ana joined the department of organic and medicinal chemistry, where she developed a library of novel heterocyclic systems using mechanochemistry techniques. After finishing Pharmacy school, Ana moved to the University of East Anglia (UK) with and Erasmus+ scholarship to work on the synthesis of antibiotic natural products. Following this, she joined the Dove group at the University of Birmingham, where she earned her PhD (2024) on the design of non- spherical ε-substituted poly(ε-caprolactone)-based nanostructures through crystallisation-driven self-assembly. Ana moved to DCU as a postdoctoral researcher to work on the LeafLock project, supervised by Dr Ruairí Brannigan, before joining the PUreTex team in the Kelleher group.
