Dr John Gallagher

John is an Associate Professor in Environmental Systems Modelling in the School of Engineering in Trinity College Dublin, and is Director of TrinityHaus, a Trinity Research Centre focusing on co-creating a healthy, inclusive, sustainable and climare resilient built environment. Following the completion of his PhD in Trinity in 2012, he worked in the UK for several years developing an expertise life cycle assessment, before returning to Trinity in 2017 where he has worked on a range of project relate to the circular performance of systems and services in society. His work focuses on mitigating environment pollution and control, designing sustainable technologies, and leveraging positive building-nature interactions in the built environment. He has produced more than 50 peer-reviewed journal publications (>3,500 citations), with his research producing reports for National, British, European and International organisations. He have coordinated Trinity project funds valued at more than €1 million, with active Interreg (PI on HY4RES, Atlantic Area, ‘23’-‘26), EPA (PI for STATION:AIR ’22-’26) and PeacePlus (Co-I on PEACE-Air ’25-’28) projects.
