Meabh received her undergraduate degree in Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology from University College Dublin (UCD) in 2021. During her studies, she completed her final year research project with Prof. Susan Quinn, focusing on the synthesis of luminescent carbon dots for use in trackable DNA hybrid probes. This project sparked her interest in nanomaterials and their biomedical applications, leading her to pursue further research with the Kelleher Nanostructured Materials group.

Under the supervision of Dr. Susan Kelleher at Dublin City University, and funded by the DCU Postgraduate Scholarship Programme and the Irish Research Council Postgraduate Scholarship, she completed her PhD, entitled “Synthesis, Structuring and Surface Charge – An Investigation of the Use of Polymeric Materials as Antibiofouling Surfaces”, in 2026. Her research focussed on introducing sub-micron surface topography and other properties to degradable polymers, with the aim of creating antimicrobial and antibiofouling materials for future biomedical applications.

She is now working as a postdoctoral researcher with the PUreTex team, synthesizing polyols, foams, and other high-value materials from starting materials isolated from recycled textiles
